Certified Athletic Therapist

(August 2024 - December 2025 full-time, Leave replacement contract position)

TCS seeks a Certified Athletic Therapist to join our caring and committed community. Reporting to the Athletic Therapy Services Director, the Certified Athletic Therapist supports the School’s athletic program, providing students with orthopedic assessment, treatment, and preventative care for musculoskeletal injuries within the scope of their professional certification. This position is centred on the compassionate and professional care of students within a well-established framework of student support and a highly collegial environment.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing orthopedic assessment, treatment and preventative care of musculoskeletal injuries
  • Assisting with the general administration of the Frances Price Athletic Therapy Clinic
  • Providing first aid and emergency care field coverage regularly, including weekends, for the TCS athletics program and visiting teams
  • Collaborating with the Athletic Therapy Services Director, TCS Health Centre, academic support staff, Athletic Director and school doctor
  • Communicating with TCS staff, parents, medical professionals and other constituents
  • Maintaining accurate professional documentation of all treatment and medical records in compliance with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association’s standards and TCS practices
  • Supervising and providing mentorship of the Athletic Therapy Clinic’s Stewards
  • Assisting with TCS emergency response and health-related protocol development and training
  • Assisting with concussion management
  • Contributing to the development of student support plans
  • Modeling and promoting of appropriate professional and ethical relationships with all stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate:

  • Enjoys working with adolescents and thrives in a collaborative environment
  • Is certified and in good standing with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association 
  • Has completed a relevant post-secondary degree or diploma
  • Holds current First Responder certification
  • Possesses a full and working knowledge of assessment and rehabilitation techniques, modality application, emergency care and taping techniques
  • Previous clinical and field experience at a Canadian Accredited Independent School and/or with adolescents is an asset
  • Demonstrates excellent listening, oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates impeccable professional standards and a clear understanding of boundaries and limits of their scope of practice
  • Has experience developing professional, trusting relationships with adolescents, parents and colleagues
  • Is empathetic, compassionate and insightful to the needs of a diverse student body and demonstrated cultural humility
  • Is a keen professional learner in areas of current and best practices in athletic therapy
  • Is dependable, accountable, flexible, organized and caring
