On the occasion of their 40th class reunion, the Class of 1984 is embarking on a special fundraising initiative in support of the Swan Studio and Swanee Coffee House Series enhancements. Please consider donating in support of this important initiative and/or join us during Reunion Weekend for the inaugural Eric Swan ’84 Memorial Annual Spring Golf Challenge.
History
In 2014, the Class of 1984, along with friends and family of the late Eric Swan ’84 gathered to dedicate the new “Swan Studio”, a multi-media space to be used as hub for the production of works that involve the integration of the creative and performing arts with technology. Used by students involved in music, technology and the performing arts, this is truly a collaborative space.
Also dedicated was funding for the Swanee Coffee House, to encourage young musicians to perform for their classmates, as Eric often did as a student.
Then, in 2022, members of the class raised funds towards new furniture for the studio, allowing this teaching space to be used in a variety of ways, and for students to further work together. The TCS Parents’ Guild also donated funding towards this project.
Class of 1984 - 40th Reunion Gift Proposal
TCS’s Fine Arts, Computer Science and Information Technology departments have proposed a state-of-the-art, multi-sectioned digital recording space in the Swan Studio. The bonus of the green screen already in place provides opportunities to create music videos of professional quality. The estimate cost is $15,000.
The long range plan is to add another Logic Station and a Virtual Reality Station to enhance our study of sound art and experimental film. This would cost approximately $7,500.
Additionally, for the Swanee Coffee House, an endowment of $10,000 would allow for approximately $350 per year to be used for coffee house expenses, including refreshments and day house evening bussing. There are currently three coffee house events per year, with one designated as the Swanee.
Eric Swan ’84 Memorial Annual Spring Golf Challenge
Mission
Come together each year on TCS reunion weekend and pay tribute to our friend Eric Swan who left us too early, with the excuse of a three-day event finishing with championship Sunday and the awarding of the Eric Swan Memorial trophy and two burgundy jackets to the winning twosome. We will pretend we are back in high school for the weekend and share old stories and new both true and false over some drinks, some golf and some laughs and honour Swanny’s legacy.
Real Mission
We will raise some funding for the Swan Studio, the Swanee Coffee House series and any other projects deemed worthy. Funds will be raised through:
