Service learning (also known as community service) has been a long tradition here at Trinity College School and our School’s mission statement speaks to this focus: Developing habits of the heart and mind for a life of purpose and service. We emphasize that with privilege comes the responsibility of serving others and giving back to our community. We help our students to become leaders of character and vision and believe a service learning program provides many powerful learning opportunities.
At TCS we aim to go above and beyond the Ontario Ministry of Education's requirement of 40 hours of service in four years. Through our service learning program we want to give back in a meaningful way. Service to others should be fun and rewarding for both students and our community at large. Some examples of service learning groups and options offered at TCS:
- Trinity Environmental Action Club (TEAC)
- Cultural Awareness Group (CAG)
- Social Justice Group
- TCS's annual Week Without Walls
- Library Reading Buddies
- Island School Environmental Service Trip
- Supporting local food banks and organizations such as: Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Rebound Youth tutoring services, Beyond the Blue Box, Ganaraska Conservation Authority, Habitat for Humanity
