  • Team MovemBears raises $2,790 to support men’s health

Each November, the international spotlight shines on men’s health & wellness during the annual Movember campaign. This initiative began in 2003 with two men in Australia simply challenging their group of friends to grow moustaches during the month of November. They found the facial hair started a conversation, and decided the following year to use the challenge as a way to raise funds for prostate cancer research. Over the next 19 years, the campaign expanded around the world and grew to encompass other aspects of men’s health, notably mental wellness and suicide prevention.

In two decades, nearly 7 million people worldwide have participated in Movember by growing a moustache, hosting an event, or setting a fitness goal for the month (the Move for Movember campaign). For many years, students and staff at Trinity College School have been joining the movement, and this year was no exception.

“Team MovemBears” included 16 participants – students and staff – who collectively raised $2,790. When added to previous years’ fundraising, more than $20,000 has been collected to support Movember’s goals over the past decade at TCS.

The team also hosted an awareness day on Thursday, November 24th, which included the distribution of blue ribbons that are associated with Movember and Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

Congratulations to Team MovemBears on raising funds and awareness, and doing their part to “change the face of men’s health!”
