  • Senior boys, Junior girls stellar at “pre-OFSAA” meet

It was another great day out on the cross-country circuit for Trinity College School’s harriers, as the Senior School team took part in the third and final Durham XC meet at Dagmar Ski Resort on Wednesday, October 12th. The Senior boys had the strongest day of all – placing first overall in a field of 33 schools – but the Junior girls were not far behind, winning silver overall!

For many runners, this was their first taste of a truly “big” cross-country meet; the Durham XC series, also known as “Pre-OFSAA,” attracts top schools from across Ontario. The meets are intended to serve as a preview of the provincial championships, also being held at the same venue. Over 100 schools participated in Wednesday’s event, with each race boasting a field of 160-260 runners.

Top-40 individual results included:

  • 15th - Abby Richards (Junior girls)
  • 17th - Liam Gibson (Senior boys)
  • 19th - Charlotte Patterson (Junior girls)
  • 20th - Bianca Rigamonte (Junior girls)
  • 22nd - Aidan Small (Senior boys)
  • 28th - Andrew Richards (Senior boys)
  • 32nd - Charlotte Belanger (Junior girls)
  • 37th - James Hassard (Senior boys) – kudos to James, who passed at least 30 runners in the second half of his race!

The coaches were pleased to see everyone race with composure, spirit and grit. And the runners are excited to carry this great momentum forward to the CISAA Championships on Wednesday, October 26th at Lakefield College School.
