Additional Fees & Costs
Initiation Fee - for first year students only: A one-time non-refundable fee of $4,000. Consult the downloadable fee tables for specifics.
Annual Facilities Fee - commencing the student’s second year (not applicable to first year students): A yearly fee of $1,250 per student. Proceeds from this annual fee support building maintenance, repair and enhancements.
Uniforms and textbooks: Uniforms can be purchased directly from our uniform provider Top Marks. The registration package families receive will provide ordering guidance as far as quantities and requirements. Families should budget $750 - 1000 in the first year with additional purchases during the student’s time at the school. Gently used uniforms are sold by the guild store on campus, The Bear Boutique. Consumable materials like workbooks and novels will be purchased through the school store. A class set of textbooks will be loaned to families at no charge so long as the books are returned in usable condition at the end of the school year.
Athletics: The costs of participating in athletics at TCS is generally covered by tuition. However, some sports, by their nature, will result in an extra expense for families, with costs typically associated with tournaments and/or travel. For example, travel and/or equipment associated with the Bigside (Varsity) hockey teams may result in an additional expense of $2,000-3,000 which will be billed during the season. Another example would be the equestrian program where the School works to offer services through a local stable and families are responsible for lesson, transportation and horse boarding/leasing costs.
Laptop: For Senior School students, a laptop is mandatory. For new Senior School students, we ask that you bring your own Apple notebook. A modest software fee may apply depending on course selection.
Tuition Refund Plan (TRP): The Tuition Refund Plan (TRP) is mandatory for all families on a multiple instalment payment schedule and optional for families choosing the Plus One payment schedule. The premium is calculated at 1.1% of the total tuition fee, less any financial assistance awarded, plus Ontario sales tax of 8%. To change your TRP selection, please contact the finance office no later than the end of June.
Junior School class trips: Each year the Grade 5/6 and Grade 7/8 classes go on class trips with the cost being approximately $500.
Health Insurance: An international health insurance plan (approx. $1150 per year) is mandatory for all international, non-Canadian students. To renew the insurance, the family must contact the TCS health centre directly each year.
Other: There will be some extra costs for certain team uniforms, incidentals and travel costs. Please call admissions for details (905-885-3209).

Over $3 million is financial assistance available to families each year
If you ask a Trinity College School parent, student or alumnus the value of a TCS education you are likely to hear that the experience is “life-changing” and “priceless.” However, being able to offer an education, community and learning environment that are energetic, illuminating and complete, means there is an associated cost in the form of tuition. We realize that many families feel such a financial commitment is beyond their capabilities. That is why TCS works to support families who would not otherwise be able to afford a TCS education on their own. The School is pleased to be able to award over $3 million dollars in bursaries each year.
