Chew and Chats have returned! Part 2

Part 2 of a 2-part blog series

Last week, I wrote about the reintroduction of “Chew and Chats” with the graduating class. Click here if you would like to read about the many strengths that our grads attribute to our school community, as shared in house-based conversations with me.

This week, I would like to share some of the constructive ideas and themes that our soon-to-be grads have identified as being worthy of future conversation at the School. Here is a selection of their comments:

  • Review weekend athletic expectations and responsibilities
  • Consider the timing of the Oxford Cup
  • Increase transparency/communication regarding discipline outcomes
  • Engage student voice earlier when considering changes at the School
  • Improve student participation in singing in chapel
  • Add more all-house events
  • Make clubs and councils mandatory for all students
  • Consider allowing Grade 11 students to take more Grade 12 courses
  • Ensure equal treatment of boys and girls sport teams
  • Review “summer dress” timing (wearing of polo shirt and uniform shorts)
  • Build a turf field/indoor dome
  • Make the quarters system more productive for students

There were a host of other positive suggestions made during our Chew and Chat sessions which I have noted and will share with my colleagues for consideration.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from these sessions with the grads is their positive and constructive approach to our chats. They clearly love the School and only want to further improve the experience for future students.

So do I.

Thank you grads!
