Graduates reach for the sky during annual “Fun Day”
  • grads in class t-shirts

With Speech Day just around the corner, Trinity College School’s Leaving Class of 2024 had a full day of grad activities on Tuesday, May 28th.

A special morning chapel service was held in honour of the graduates. This event took on special significance, as it also marked the last formal morning chapel service with our Senior School students, within the Memorial Chapel, for Canon Don Aitchison, who leaves his role as TCS chaplain in June, after 25 years.

Following the service, the grads were “clapped out” of the chapel by their Grade 9-11 peers and school staff, as they made their way to the dedication of the class of 2024 tree on campus.

Grads took part in a rehearsal for Speech Day and then were able to don their class t-shirts in preparation for a day of fun hosted by the philanthropy & alumni office! This included a barbecue lunch outside Cirne Commons that included time for students to sign one another’s shirts. Then, everyone boarded the buses to head to SkyZone in Whitby for an afternoon on the trampolines, practicing jumps and playing games including extreme dodgeball.

Later in the day, grads got into their semi-formal attire for the Leaving Class Dinner. A reception in The Lodge Garden was followed by a beautiful dinner in Osler Hall. Among the highlights of the evening were the presentation of two honours. The Merv Anthony award was received by Beau L. and Eric J. As determined by a vote of the graduating class, this award recognizes a student who “best exemplifies the qualities of quiet humour, perseverance and, above all, genuine concern for others.” The year chairs for the class of 2024 were also announced: Emerson M. and Hannah B. Selected by their peers, the year chairs will serve as a point of contact for the class, helping to organize class events such as reunions, assisting with fundraising and helping grads stay in touch with one another.
