Toronto conference showcases careers in accounting
  • CPA Ontario Conference

Eight Trinity College School students attended CPA Ontario’s No Limits conference on Tuesday, May 14th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, learning about how choosing the Chartered Professional Accountant designation as a career path opens doors to making a real impact in the world today.

Students were joined by industry professionals who shared how they went from learning the fundamentals of accounting to doing incredible things with their CPA designation. They also had the opportunity to network with industry professionals, meet employers and speak with post-secondary representatives.

The keynote speaker was Stefanie Ricchio, who works with businesses looking to automate their business systems and implement the latest digital solutions to grow and scale their businesses.

Students worked on an interactive mini-case with John Asher (president at Konfidis Inc.) to learn what it takes to work as a business professional. They then attended a panel discussion with Alex Popa (vice president of M&A and capital markets at BDO), Fahad Tariq (vice president, corporate development at Ridgeline Royalties) and Nawal Mahrat (aspiring CPA) to hear from professionals along each stage of the CPA journey, from student to leader.

It was a great day of learning and networking for the students!
