Trinity College School’s swimmers had a fantastic – and fast – day in the pool as the Senior School team competed at the CISAA Championships in Markham on Wednesday, February 19th.
The meet saw 42 personal best times posted by TCS swimmers, and the Junior girls came home with the overall championship title in their division. The team earned more than 20 medals in individual and relay events, and 11 swimmers qualified for the OFSAA provincial championships.
Gold medal winners included:
- Leah Chesney: Senior girls 50m freestyle
- Kit Cheung: Senior boys 200m freestyle
- Mika Romao Vandepol: Junior girls 100m freestyle
- Fiona Shearing: Senior girls 200m freestyle
- Nadia Simmonds: Junior girls 50m backstroke
- Lindsay Smith: Junior girls 200m freestyle
- Carmella Ylagan: Junior girls 50m butterfly
- Junior girls 200m medley relay (Nadia Simmonds, Olivia Girimonte, Carmella Ylagan, Mika Romao Vandepol)
Silver medals went to:
- Leah Chesney: Senior girls 100m freestyle
- Kit Cheung: Senior boys 100m freestyle
- Olivia Girimonte: Junior girls 50m breaststroke
- Mika Romao Vandepol: Junior girls 100m freestyle
- Fiona Shearing: Senior girls 100m individual medley
- Nadia Simmonds: Junior girls 50m freestyle
- Carmella Ylagan: Junior girls 100m individual medley
And third-place finishes were posted by:

Representing TCS at the OFSAA Championships will be: Morad Aref, Leah Chesney, Kit Cheung, Olivia Girimonte, Avery Herr, Allie Riihiluoma, Mika Romao Vandepol, Fiona Shearing, Nadia Simmonds, Lindsay Smith and Carmella Ylagan.
