Students show the value of experience in House Debates semi-finals

With four rounds of preliminary debate under their belts, Trinity College School students showcased their skill in the semi-finals of House Debates on Monday, February 24th, arguing the resolution that “experience is the best teacher.”

In the Junior division, Ava Becker of Rigby House was the top individual, followed by Wright’s Madison Narciso, Riley Christensen of Orchard, and Ellice Huhe of Wright. Rigby’s Neyha Billing rounded out the leaderboard in fifth place. Madison and Ellice gave Wright top team honours, followed in order by Riley and his Orchard House teammate Gordon Bennett, and the Rigby duo of Neyha and Valentina Conrad.

Vying for the Dr. Michael DuBroy Junior House Debate Trophy on Monday, March 30th will be Orchard and Wright House.

In the Senior ranks, Evelyn Maguire of Rigby House was the top individual. Hodgetts House took the next three spots in order, with a second-place tie between Kyle Munns and Jayden Lefebvre, and Dylan Ceccato in third place. Fifth place was a tie between Rigby’s Naomi Larocque and Jaya Sharma of Wright House. Kyle and Jayden gave Hodgetts the team win, followed by Evelyn and her Rigby House teammate Jasleen Billing. Dylan and Will LaBranche took third place for Hodgetts.

Hodgetts and Wright House will compete for the Tom Lawson Senior House Debate Trophy on Tuesday, March 31st.
