With large gatherings on hold for the time being, the presentation of 2019-2020 Scholars’ Awards to Trinity College School students took place during grade-specific chapel services held from September 29th to October 5th. The fall presentation of Scholars’ Awards honours the achievements of last year’s Grade 8, 9, 10 and 11 students based on three awards criteria. A total of 208 students received Scholars’ Awards over the past week.
With students spread out in the Memorial Chapel, there was nonetheless great excitement as each scholar was recognized for their achievement. Scholars’ ties were earned by 127 students who achieved scholar status for the first time in their TCS careers, while 81 repeat Scholars’ Award winners earned gold lapel pins. Following recognition at the chapel services, students received their ties or pins at house meetings this week.
Students with the top three averages in each grade level were also awarded gold, silver and bronze medals.
- Medal winners from Grade 8 were Madison Miller (bronze), Junhyeong Hong (silver) and Valarie Northey (gold).
- For Grade 9, the medals were awarded to Jade Barnard (bronze), Amelia Maggi (silver) and Jasmine Chen (gold).
- For Grade 10, the medals were awarded to Isolde Ardies (bronze), Madison Narciso (silver) and Gordon Bennett (gold).
- For Grade 11, the medals were awarded to Michael Yip (bronze), Loretta Hu (silver) and, in a tie that went to three decimal points, Ambrose Ling and Aishwarya Rajesh Krishnan (gold).
Following the conclusion of each service, in lieu of the traditional scholars’ photo, the medal winners from each grade were photographed outside the chapel.
