Trinity College School’s Senior School students celebrated the spooky season with Halloween activities on October 28th and 29th.
With day students at home and Parent-Teacher Meetings in progress, the afternoon of October 28th was designated towards the boarding house pumpkin decorating competition. Each grade had a different theme to which they had to design their pumpkin. The Grade 9 students had to decorate their pumpkin with the use of recycled objects and Burns House took the win in this category. The Grade 10 students’ “best in show” pumpkin went to Scott for their scary painting of Pennywise the clown. The Grade 11 students’ “best house spirit” winner was also Scott House with their green and sparkly pumpkin which perfectly depicted the spirit in that house. Last but not least, the Grade 12 category win for “best representation of your housemaster” went to Bickle House for their painting of Ms. Erin McGee. Overall, Scott House took the win for this competition adding points toward the Langmuir Cup. Special thanks to Ms. Lisa Redmond for putting together this engaging activity for our boarders, and to Mr. Stuart Grainger and Mr. Kristopher Churchill for taking time out of their day to judge these pumpkins.
The Senior School students and staff made it a point to continue to raise the vitality on campus on October 29th with their innovative outfits: from the Incredibles to the M&Ms and even wearing our school uniform after several months. A special shout-out to Mr. Tim Clutton for his Transformers costume. The prefects handed out awards for a variety of costume categories, from scariest to best “last minute” costume. The TCS Parents’ Guild put together boxes and bags of sweets, ordered by families, and handed them out to students and staff. A special thanks goes to the parent volunteers for the hard work and effort they put in to add to the high spirits during the day.
Our community surely came together during this trying time, staying resilient, persistent, and creative in order to celebrate Halloween safely and with spirit.
