Students, staff and family members in the Trinity College School community joined fellow bibliophiles across the country to celebrate our national literary landscape during “I Read Canadian” Day on Wednesday, February 17th.

I Read Canadian Day (https://ireadcanadian.com/day/) was created last year to encourage young people to discover books from the diverse range of authors and illustrators throughout our country. The challenge is to spend at least 15 minutes on this day “reading Canadian.”

And TCS readers certainly rose to the challenge! In the weeks leading up to I Read Canadian Day, the Junior and Senior School libraries encouraged everyone to submit a selfie with a Canadian book. Photos flooded in from the school community, with people sharing classics such as W.O. Mitchell’s Who Has Seen the Wind, and more recent bestsellers like The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline. In the Junior School, students even dressed up in red and white or their Canadian gear to honour this special day.
