Holiday spirit shines through

With good cheer, Trinity College School students and staff celebrated the holidays with many special events over the last two weeks of classes in December.

In the Junior School, the annual Door Decorating Contest was a huge hit, with classroom doors reflecting Hanukkah, gingerbread houses, snowpeople and the Grinch, as well as a giant advent calendar! Each Friday, as well as the last day of school featured a dress-down theme such as red & green and “Christmas from Head to Toe.” Students welcomed the return of the “Bazaar in a Bag” initiative, as well as chances to take part in fun grade-based activities like tobogganing. The final day of 2021 classes featured the annual Junior School skating party, this year held in cohorts.

In the Senior School, the prefects hosted a Spirit Week that included dress-down themes such as winter sports and “Dress like a Christmas Character.” Throughout the week, special snacks were provided, from hot chocolate to candy canes. On the final day of the week, staff surprised the students with impromptu Christmas carols and music during morning break.

The prefects capped off the holiday season with the annual Winter Wonderland event, this year in the form of a special dinner in Osler Hall with favourites such as chicken wings and mozzarella sticks! Many of the Senior School houses hosted dinners and gatherings throughout the month, and the Senior School library brought back the popular Elf on the Library Shelf contest.

Students also participated in the online “Deck the Halls” contest through the School’s Instagram page. Houses had fun staging photos and then vying for votes. Congratulations to our winner, Scott House, and runner-up, Hodgetts House!
