Valentine’s is a day of love and gratitude

While the Feast of St. Valentine’s has long been associated with love and affection, it is also speculated that its timing is intended to welcome the coming of the spring. Despite frigid temperatures outside, Trinity College School students and staff embraced the warm tidings of Valentine’s Day on Monday, February 14th.

Both Junior and Senior School students took part in a dress down day, wearing the colours of pink, red and white that are traditionally associated with this day of love and friendship.

In Boulden House, students enjoyed class parties. In Grades 5 through 7, students had treats and games in their classes, while the Grade 8 classes had a skating party! The students and staff wanted to express their gratitude to the class parents who organized these events.

In the Senior School, the library organized crafts and card-making. The prefects hosted a “My Prefect Valentine” game during evening study, with students trying to match responses with the prefect panelists. And Rigby House had a special “Galentine’s” lunch, with pizza and cupcake decorating. They used the lunch as a chance to give back, making Valentine cards for the residents of nearby Empire Crossing Retirement Residence, which were delivered in the afternoon.

Special thanks go to the TCS Parents’ Guild and the culinary services team, for the beautiful balloon trees provided to the Junior and Senior Schools as well as the treat bags handed out at lunchtime.
