Winter Sports Report: Littleside Volleyball

The Trinity College School Littleside volleyball team was very accomplished over the winter term: four wins and only two losses, including one in a third set. We played with energy and teamwork and left all we had on the court.

We learned more about the sport during our games, but we also gained experiences and good memories that will last a lifetime. The greatest memory we all had was probably our “cellies,” which were the celebrations we had after every point, whether we won or lost. We visited Havergal College, one of our toughest competitors, and won a set.

The team always kept to the three-touch rule: bump, set, hit. We also had lots of great digs, sometimes landing the girls on the floor, but just as we expected, they got right back up. We also had many great hits, as we had a great offence, and many blocks.

Behind the scenes, the Littleside volleyball team incorporated drills into their practices to help with team dynamics and support. One of the drills used was the “three-person passing drill” that allowed the players to work on court movement, communication and the rhythm of volleyball: bump, set, hit. The high-energy practices were fun and skill-based.

The team has done an excellent job celebrating wins, supporting each other in losses and building lasting memories. The team worked hard together and was strong off and on the court. Overall, this season was great, and there was growth in each player. We wish the season could have been more extended, but all great things must end, and this season was great overall! We want to thank all the girls and coaches (Mr. Grant Elson and Ms. Melissa Papp) for this amazing opportunity.
