Capture Canada trip participants enjoy the long weekend outdoors

While many students relaxed over the Victoria Day long weekend, 12 TCS students bravely took on the challenge of whitewater rafting on the Ottawa River as a part of this year's final Capture Canada trip. Accompanied by Mr. Darling and Ms. Mann, these students were guided down several large rapids by the experienced and exceptional staff at OWL Rafting.

Both Saturday and Sunday were filled with spills, thrills and a whole lot of laughter. Saturday’s excursion consisted of soft-intensity rapids that provided a scenic, less intense trip down the river. However, Sunday's brisk weather, combined with the medium-intensity voyage, made for an incredibly memorable experience for all. Equipped with full wetsuits, life jackets and helmets, the group paddled hard down the river, through massive whitewater elements, to make it to their lunch on a pontoon boat.

Apart from the rafting, OWL's site offered TCS students the opportunity to kayak, relax by the firepit while roasting marshmallows, and play disc golf, beach volleyball, soccer, and a ton of spikeball! From the group's first day together on Thursday, until our departure day on Monday, the trip gave these 12 students the perfect opportunity to gel as a team of novice rafters, make memories that will last well beyond high school, and develop bonds with peers they might not have had the chance to meet otherwise.
