Sports Update: Rugby & Track

Trinity College School’s competitive sports teams are now well into the regular season schedule, and already posting strong results across a number of disciplines.

Rugby: Bigside boys rugby team hosted its first home game on Tuesday, May 2nd. The Bears beat Appleby College, 20-8. It was a close battle throughout but TCS pulled ahead in the second half. Scoring trys for TCS were Aiden Lines, Doug Gibson and Ryan Horton. The entire team played quite well, but in addition to the try scorers, especially strong performances on the day came from Jack McLernon, Matt Anderson, Michael Moreau and Liam Gibson.

The team currently has a record of 1-2, with one more important CISAA league game against St. Andrew’s College next Saturday, May 13th at TCS. The team is coming together and has its sights set on making the playoffs.

Track: The track team took part in a competitive Durham Invitational meet on Wednesday, May 3rd. Shout-outs to athletes who posted finishes in the top eight:

  • Abby R. – 3rd in Novice 1,500m run
  • Aeowyn C. – 3rd in Junior 300m hurdles
  • Aidan S. – 8th in Senior 1,500m run
  • Xyon J. – 2nd in triple jump

The team has one more meet, on May 10th in Markham, before the CISAA Championships, which take place May 15th-16th at York University.
