Junior Bears

The Junior Bears program is an exciting week jam-packed with a variety of activities. It is designed to provide a safe and meaningful program for our youngest campers, providing opportunities to foster friendships and develop self-confidence through an introduction to traditional camp activities. Campers will participate in sports, arts and crafts, music, drama, dance, science experiments, nature activities and more!

Senior Leadership

June 30–July 11 (July 5 & 6 excluded)
For campers born between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2014
$575/camper

The Leadership program is a unique experience for our oldest campers as they are pushed to think and work outside of the box in a variety of unique environments. The group will explore their individual and collective strengths and play a leading role for younger campers. They will participate in a two-night camping trip (July 7-9) at Silent Lake, where they will develop skills, foster friendships, and learn about themselves and each other. All trip expenses are included in the cost.

Choose Your Own Adventure

June 30-July 4 (Session 1) & July 7-11 (Session 2)
For campers born between January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2018
$265/week

Campers will have an opportunity to engage in traditional camp activities, with opportunities for daily choice. However, campers in this program will also dial in on their favourite activities. Each camper will select one morning program and one afternoon program (see reverse for options). Spaces in choice programs are limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Campers are welcome to pick similar options (for morning and afternoon) but are discouraged from selecting the same program for multiple weeks (with the exception of Olympic Games & Fun In The Field).

Morning Options

Aspiring Artists: Unleash your creativity with fellow artists and campers! Using a wide variety of materials, in a beautiful art studio, campers will explore daily projects with a focus on imagination, new techniques and skill development. SESSION 2 ONLY

Budding Scientists: Campers will explore hands-on activities designed to inspire their creativity and curiosity. Campers will have the opportunity to do fun experiments both in the science lab and outside!

Camp Crafts: Campers will have an opportunity to try traditional camp crafts like tie-dye, rock painting, friendship bracelets and more. Campers will also explore art in nature. SESSION 1 ONLY

Olympic Games: Whether they’re a seasoned athlete or new to the field, this program will give campers the opportunity to play a wide variety of sports that will encourage teamwork, skill development and fun.

Outdoor Explorers: This program is for campers who love the outdoors! There will be opportunities to learn outdoor skills and explore outdoor science. Campers will also focus on survival skills and team building.

Afternoon Options

Dance Troupe: This program welcomes new and experienced dancers, and will explore a variety of movement. Campers will have an opportunity to coordinate their own performance for the Camp Showcase!

Fun In The Field: The program will explore a wide variety of cooperative activities, with a focus on teamwork, leadership and problem-solving. Campers will enjoy the outdoors and many traditional camp games.

Music Jammers: Northumberland’s favourite D.J. comes to Discovery Camp! Campers will have an opportunity to explore percussion instruments, sing karaoke, play “Name that tune!”, learn a little music history, and, of course, enjoy unlimited dance parties. All experience levels are welcome!

Woodworking: New to Discovery Camp this year, campers will have the opportunity to design and create their own project in our woodworking studio. Campers will learn how to safely use hand tools and can expect to come home with a finished product by the end of the week. No experience is required!

Mission Statement

At Discovery Camp, we strive to offer unique and challenging programs that promote independence, teamwork and creativity in our campers, while providing a safe and fun environment where skills are fostered and friendships are made.

Staff

Discovery Camp staff are primarily Trinity College School staff, who have a breadth of experience in classroom and experiential education, with a diverse range of camp backgrounds. Discovery Camp is committed to strong camper-to-staff ratios and a safe and engaging environment, resulting in a small, community-oriented camp with a difference.

Location & Facilities

Discovery Camp is operated on the Trinity College School campus in Port Hope, Ontario. The camp entrance is located off of Rose Glen Road (between Beatrice Strong Public School and Ward Street), at 20 Rose Glen Road North.

Camp Times

Camp runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. Drop-off runs from 8:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and pick-up runs from 3:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. A fluid pick-up process is imperative to ensure the safety of all campers. Further instructions will be provided to registered families in June.

Registration & Payment

Registration is available online at tcs-summer-programs.campbrainregistration.com. Registration is available beginning March 1, 2025. We are unable to process registrations over the phone. Space is limited, and granted on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of completed forms and payment. At the end of June, all camper families can expect an email communication with program details and other helpful information prior to the start of camp. Full refunds will be approved if a medical certificate is provided. Partial refunds (minus 25%) will be approved prior to June 1, 2025. If a camper is asked to leave Discovery Camp for issues related to conduct, no refunds will be made.
