A chance to thank our wonderful parent volunteers
  • Guild Executive

Each year, parent volunteers at Trinity College School provide hundreds of hours of service in support of enhancing the daily lives of our students. On Thursday, June 6th, The TCS Parents’ Guild took the opportunity to thank these dedicated parent volunteers, as well as to reflect on a successful year, at the guild’s annual general meeting.

Guests enjoyed breakfast in Osler Hall, and the chance to hear from different members of the guild executive about their portfolios. TCS Parents’ President Chantal Campbell P’25 ’27 presented a cheque to Stuart Grainger, head of TCS, for $17,000. This represents a portion of the $120,820 the guild has gifted back to the School this year.

Through fundraising initiatives including Bear Fair, treat and exam pack orders and more, the guild supports a bursary and other initiatives, including “wish list” items proposed by staff to improve the student experience. For example, this year’s wish list items included a Spanish library, day house furniture, a smart TV for the Clinton T. Sayers ’80 Service Learning Office, tools for the Woodworking Club, cameras for athletics, new furniture for the Dick & Jane LeVan Theatre, and jerseys and pop-up shelters for Junior School athletics.

Highlights of the AGM included the presentation of a piece of artwork to outgoing TCS Chaplain, Canon Don Aitchison. As well, guests heard from speaker Kathy LaBranche, the School’s executive director - strategic enrolment, who spoke about the transition from “admissions” to “enrolment management” and how the School prepares for shifting demographics and financial realities in order to attract and retain wonderful students who enrich our school community and benefit from the transformative TCS experience.

A day prior to the AGM, the School hosted an appreciation event in Trinity House for the parents who have given of their time in the Bear Boutique throughout the school year. The tuck shop is a much-loved destination for students and its success is the direct result of the efforts of the Caitlin Phillips P’21 ’25 (boutique manager) and the parents who volunteer each day.

Thank you to all of our parent volunteers – your time, effort and enthusiasm are so appreciated and contribute so much to making TCS the special place it is!
