Reunion Weekend is a heartwarming gathering
  • Reunion reception

On behalf of the philanthropy & alumni team, thank you to everyone for a great Reunion Weekend at Trinity College School!

Events kicked off on Friday, May 24th with a well-attended golf tournament that saw 105 alumni and guests hit the links at the Dalewood Golf Course. During the prize presentations, the Jocko Taylor ’67 Award for loyalty and dedication to the School was given to Stewart Raynor ’69, a year chair who has done an amazing job keeping his class in touch with each other and the School. Friday night found all of the reunion alumni enjoying class dinners at restaurants around Port Hope.

Approximately 500 alumni were on campus over the weekend. A little rain couldn’t keep people away!

Saturday’s activities – including cycling, tennis, rugby, a 5km run, soccer, archives displays, the admissions information booth, school tours and, of course, shopping in the school store – were all very popular. Between cheering on the rugby teams as they hosted their league championship games, and enjoying a matinee performance of the School’s spring play, Shrek the Musical, our guests had an opportunity to see how arts and athletics are thriving at TCS!

This year, the School hosted a special silent auction as well as having class t-shirts available for purchase. Both of these new initiatives were well-received, with many shirts seen around campus, and the silent auction raising more than $26,000 for class projects.

On Saturday evening, the presentation by Head of Trinity College School Stuart Grainger in the Dick & Jane LeVan Theatre included an update on the School, and a special performance by the class of 1989 acapella group “Hammond Cheese.” Following the presentation, the 350 guests made their way to Cirne Commons for a reception featuring Ganaraska Brewing Company with a special “TCS Alumni” label. Then, all enjoyed a wonderful meal in the Sue Burns Gymnasium, a new venue for the reunion dinner this year.

The weekend concluded on Sunday with a moving chapel service, Canon Don Aitchison’s last reunion service as he moves on from his post as TCS chaplain at the end of this academic year. The service was very well-attended, with many alumni making their way to Port Hope just for the occasion.

Our alumni are always very generous! This year’s reunion classes have raised close to $230,000 so far, with gifts directed to scholarships and bursaries, the window refurbishment project, and enhancements to co-curricular programs.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the weekend’s success, including our faculty and staff, students, and all of our guests. We can’t wait for Reunion Weekend 2025, and the chance to celebrate graduating classes ending in “0” and “5.”

If you took any photos of alumni over the weekend, please share them with us at alumni@tcs.on.ca. We would love to hear your feedback and input for next year! Please send any comments or suggestions to Tricia Mandryk at tmandryk@tcs.on.ca
