BookIt 2024 is bigger than ever!

Saturday, January 20th marked Trinity College School’s 17th BookIt reading marathon, and this year’s event was bigger than ever. The Senior School library welcomed a total of 84 participants over the course of the event, between noon and midnight.

Forty-six Senior School readers took part this year, with 38 of these students remaining all the way until midnight. For the first time, Junior School students were invited to join BookIt during the afternoon, and 30 young readers were a welcome addition to the day. As well, eight staff members joined in the fun.

A testament to the mutual love of a good book, more than 17,000 pages were read by participants, as well as a few hours of audiobook listening!

In addition to time spent curled up with blankets, pillows and great reads, BookIt also includes book-themed activities. A student-designed logo was featured on stickers and bookmarks (providing a member of the library team with the opportunity to learn how to make stickers on our Cricut!). Prizes, including books, stationery items and reading-themed accessories, were up for grabs during each hourly break. A favourite highlight was the Just Dance session held during one evening break. And for those intrepid readers who stayed until the end, there was a hot cocoa bar after hours in the Osler Hall servery.

Thank you to all of the students and staff who came out to make BookIt 2024 a success. On a bitterly cold winter day, it was so heart-warming to look around the library and see our community come together to celebrate the joy of reading.
