TCS achieves EcoSchools Canada “platinum” certification
  • TCS achieves EcoSchools Canada “platinum” certification

For the past 12 years, Trinity College School has demonstrated accountability to sustainability by undertaking the certification process through EcoSchools Canada. In chapel service the morning of Friday, May 26th, Trinity Environmental Action Club leaders Marie-Anne Urrutia and Katie Gunther provided an update on this year’s application for certification. This week, we learned that our application for highest level of certification, platinum, has been approved.

Led by TEAC, the house green reps and many staff, the School registered participation in 35 distinct eco-actions, scoring 197 points out of a possible 260, which is well above the 101 points required for the platinum level of certification. We have been certifying at the platinum level since 2017.

As in past years, we logged points for our many energy, water and waste reduction projects, our numerous student engagement and leadership programs, as well as our many habitat restoration and food systems activities. In the environmental literacy category, we submitted the work of 33 individual teachers across all grades and in nine subject areas – a real testament to the growing integration of sustainability themes in our curriculum.

Thank you to everyone – students, faculty and staff – who work throughout the year to ensure we are aiming higher in our environmental commitments across our campus, our curriculum and our culture as a school.
