Awards ceremony looks back on successful spring and full year in sports
  • Awards ceremony looks back on successful spring and full year in sports

The spring term of athletics at Trinity College School was filled with highlights, including strong CISAA league performances in badminton (co-ed overall champion and mixed doubles champions), girls tennis and rugby, as well as multiple CISAA medals and an OFSAA qualification in track. Achievement, leadership and dedication in Senior School co-curricular sports were celebrated at the Spring Athletic Awards on Friday, June 9th in the Dick and Jane LeVan Theatre. In addition to reflecting on an exciting spring term, a number of honours were handed for overall performance over the course of the 2022-2023 academic year.

The outstanding athletes of the year in each grade (with the Grade 12 award to be handed out on Speech Day) were recognized as follows:

  • Paterson Trophy for Grade 9: Abby Richards, Sutton Meier
  • F.G. Osler Cup for Grade 10: Addy O’Grady, Charlotte Patterson, Brodie Reilly
  • R.C.N. Wright Trophy for Grade 11: Anna Tenngren, Jack McLernon, Aidan Small

Bigside ties were awarded to 32 athletes and Bigside colours were earned by 49 students. Bigside ties signify an athlete’s third term of participation at the Bigside level during their TCS career. Colours are reserved for Senior (Grade 11 and 12) athletes who display respect and teamwork throughout at least four terms of Bigside athletic involvement. Distinction awards are reserved for students who achieve a superior level of performance in the spring term of sports as well as serving as leading ambassadors for the School through their athletic involvement. One student received this prestigious recognition for the spring term, Grade 12 rugby player Malinka Kwemo. This is the second consecutive year in which Malinka has been so honoured.
