Commitment to “MOGO” recognized with sustainability awards
  • Commitment to “MOGO” recognized with sustainability awards

Students’ commitment to do “more good” (MOGO) for the environment was recognized during morning chapel service on Friday, May 26th, with the presentation of Sustainability Leadership Awards.

Marie-Anne Urrutia, one of the leaders of Trinity Environmental Action Club (TEAC), opened the chapel by noting, “This morning, we are here to celebrate TCS’s work towards making a healthier planet with healthier people. Together, we try to improve our habits of the heart and mind to do MOGO – more good – instead of just less bad. Every step that each of us takes is a step towards a better future and regenerated systems on our planet.”

Sustainability Leadership Awards are presented to students who have shown their commitment to green initiatives by serving as a green rep for one of the Senior School houses, as a leader of TEAC and/or as a sustainability steward. Students are presented a tie for one year of service, and a pin for two years.

The following students earned ties:

  • Bethune Green Reps – Tanay Langhe and Keefer Carriere
  • Brent Green Rep – Oliver Gu
  • Burns Green Reps – Ella Martins and Charlotte Pacaud
  • Ketchum Green Reps – Golden Onyekere and Charlotte Belanger
  • Scott Green Reps – Olivia Dagher, Nina Gardes, Xenia Blankenburg and Teti Oluwatuyi
  • Hodgetts Green Reps – Jerry Chen and Nolan McReelis
  • Orchard Green Reps – Nic Damiani and Will Horsbrugh-Porter
  • Rigby Green Reps – Amelia Maggi and Aeowyn Comissiong
  • Wright Green Reps – Danica Brill, Brooke Myers and Kayleigh Dalkner
  • TEAC Leader – Marie-Anne Urrutia

For two years of green service and leadership, pins were presented to: Katie Gunther, TEAC leader and previous Scott House green rep; and Hannah Bailey, two time Wright House green rep.

Congratulations to all of our Sustainability Leadership Award recipients. The chapel also saw the presentation of the Green Cup for house environmental actions, an update on the School’s Ontario EcoSchools certification, and TEAC’s helpful list of “Top 10 MOGO Tips for Summer.”
