Scholars’ Evening honours 2021-2022 academic achievement
  • Scholars’ Evening honours 2021-2022 academic achievement

After a two-year hiatus, an in-person Scholars’ Evening celebration returned to the stage of the Dick & Jane LeVan Theatre at Trinity College School on Friday, September 23rd. This was an opportunity to honour returning students who achieved TCS Scholar status in the 2021-2022 school year, as well as those who won Grade 11 subject prizes and/or earned an award in the Advanced Placement program.

The ceremony began with our land acknowledgement and a note about the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation on September 30th. To reflect our commitment to sustainability, this year’s program was fully digital (click here to view the program). As well, the event was livestreamed for those who could not be on campus.

Prior to the awarding of prizes, a highlight of the evening was the performance of special guest, Juno-nominated musician Peter Katz. Mr. Katz spoke of belonging, resilience, the habits of heart and the power of music, infusing his talk with his own compositions on guitar.

We then honoured our 2021-2022 TCS Scholars’ Award recipients from Grade 8, 9, 10, and 11. More than 220 returning students earned this honour, which requires students to meet several criteria, including achieving an overall average of 86% or higher. Students received a tie (first time TCS Scholars) or a pin (repeat TCS Scholars).

Also recognized were our AP Scholar Award recipients (click here for the full list of AP honours from 2021-2022). And students who earned top marks in a range of Grade 11 courses last year received their prizes (click here for the full list).

The evening concluded with the presentation of medals to the top three TCS Scholars in each grade:

  • Grade 8: Roger Zhang (bronze), Hannah Obomighie (silver), Caden Keystone (gold)
  • Grade 9: Hibah Tahir (bronze), Ally Jiang (silver), Arjun Sharma (gold)
  • Grade 10: Cheuk Lam (bronze), Eric Jim (silver), Aoo Audsabumrungrat (gold)
  • Grade 11: Jasmine Chen and Tae-Kyeong Kim (tied for bronze), Silas Hodges (silver), Emily Brown (gold)

Congratulations to all of our award recipients!
