Thank you to everyone for a great Reunion Weekend at Trinity College School! It was a fantastic return for our alumni events, with the first Reunion Weekend since 2019 staged between May 26th and 28th on campus and at venues around our local area.
Friday’s golf tournament was well attended, with over 70 alumni and guests teeing it up at Dalewood Golf Club. The Jocko Taylor ’67 award for loyalty and dedication to the School was given to Geoff Bertram ’72, a current trustee, long-time volunteer and TCS supporter. Friday night found all of the reunion alumni enjoying class dinners at restaurants around Port Hope.
Over 300 alumni and guests were on campus on Saturday! It was great to see the first alumni versus alumni cricket match, and other activities including cycling, tennis, rugby, 5km run, disc golf, art class, archives display, admissions information station, school tours and, of course, shopping in the school store were all very popular. We also had a great turnout for the dedication of the Edwin Nash Garden, and the lunch gathering for the Bigside boys hockey team of 1972.
Saturday evening’s festivities began in the Dick & Jane LeVan Theatre with Headmaster Stuart Grainger’s presentation of the Colin T. Brown '75 Leadership Medal to TCS Foundation director and past parent Brian Westlake P’95 ’98 and honorary trustee Tony Hendrie ’52 in honour of their years of dedication and volunteer service to TCS. The 150th Anniversary Medal for professional achievement and/or commitment to service in their field or the community was awarded to Colin Glassco ’61 in recognition of his role as founder of the Colin B. Glassco Foundation for Children and the work he has done in Zambia, and to George Strathy ’67, Chief Justice of Ontario since 2014. Following the presentation, the crowd made its way to the Cirne Commons for a reception featuring Ganaraska Brewing Company and then enjoyed dinner in the commons and lower gym.
The weekend ended Sunday with a chapel service and an incredible brunch.
Our reunion classes are always very generous! This year’s reunion classes have raised $250,000 so far, with gifts directed to student financial assistance, EV charging stations and work being done in the Memorial Chapel in memory of Bishop Michael Bedford-Jones ’61.
As always, we heard many compliments from alumni on the state of the School, the beauty of campus and the programs offered. We are very grateful to everyone for their participation in our first Reunion Weekend in three years!
