TCS students test French language skills with DELF exam

After a hiatus due to the pandemic, Trinity College School’s French language students were once again able to participate in the internationally recognized DELF (Diplôme D'études En Langue Française) exam. Eleven students travelled to North York on May 2nd and 3rd and tested their language skills in an unfamiliar format and environment, in order to apply their language knowledge beyond the traditional classroom. The DELF diploma, awarded by the French Ministry of Education, certifies students internationally as independent users of the language upon achieving either the B1 or B2 certification.

TCS continues to encourage students to pursue learning beyond the traditional classroom. Students completed a written test as well as a spoken interview in French. The students bravely challenged their understanding of the language and are working to ensure their French language skills will be of benefit beyond the French classroom.

This examination was excellent preparation for those who also wrote the Advanced Placement French exam which took place during the month of May. As the end of the academic year can be busy with AP exams, these students wished to ensure that, in their pursuit of learning a new language, they would be able to gain qualifications and distinctions that would set them apart from most other language learners.

Congratulations to all that wrote the test and a special thanks to Ms. Tiffany Bathurst for her organization of the event.
