Tennis team makes their mark on the court

The TCS tennis team, happy to get back on the courts this spring, has enjoyed a strong season.

To ask the players and coaches, a highlight of the boys tennis season would be the fact that the TCS team bested the notoriously-strong Upper Canada College tennis team during the regular season for the first time in 15 years! Overall, the TCS boys team finished 3rd in the east division with a 5-1 record. At the CISAA championships held earlier this week, they finished 6th. A special shout out to Grade 11 player, Philippe Dulac, who placed 4th in the #2 singles at CISAA.

Not to be outdone by the boys team, TCS girls tennis also had a successful run, finishing the regular season play with a 2nd place finish in the east division. Grade 9 student, Serar Omar (#2 singles), and Grade 12 student Sophie Clark, along with Grade 11 student Jenna Askari (#3 doubles) were seeded first after the regular season.

At the CISAA championships held on May 25th, as a result of all their hard work, Lily Wright and Jaylyn Bao played some of their best tennis of the season and earned silver medals in their doubles draw. Disappointingly, Serar’s flight was cancelled. Sophie and Grade 11 student Eliza Wadds (who was filling in for Jenna) placed 3rd in their very competitive doubles draw – an incredible achievement and a testament to their skillful use of strategy and supportive play, as they had not previously played a match together as a doubles team. As a team, TCS girls tennis tied for 5th overall at the CISAA championship.

Congratulations to all of our tennis players for a tremendous season marked by hardwork, good play and success.
