Students get in the Island groove

The Caribbean Council brought the “Vibe of the Islands” to Trinity College School for a Senior School dance held in the Peter Campbell Memorial Rink on Friday, May 6th. Islander leaders Christal Mattis and Nadia Simmonds and their team brought colour and life to the arena, while DJ Wickham brought the sounds of the Islands for a night of dancing and laughter!

The Islander dance is a long-standing tradition at TCS, and not only was this event making its return after a three-year hiatus, but it also marked the first Senior School dance since the fall of 2019.

In addition to dancing, the many students who attended enjoyed spending the evening signing one another’s t-shirts, drinking mocktails and taking photos on the inflatable flamingo. There were hula hoops, bright sunglasses, hats, glow sticks and washable glow-in-the-dark paint, as well as flags representing the many Islander nations within our school community – all making for a vibrant night. Perhaps most cherished was the chance to spend time together with friends.

Thank you to the Caribbean Council and Islander students, the prefects, the property and culinary services teams, the travel office and the chaperones for all of their efforts to create a really fun experience for the students!
