Happy 157th Birthday, TCS!

Trinity College School marked 157 years since its official incorporation, an event that took place on May 1, 1865 when the School existed in the parish of Revd. William Arthur Johnson at Weston, Ontario. At that time, Father Johnson had been seeking a better education for his own children and so the small school of nine students was born. Three years later, the growing educational institution would move to Port Hope. Today, Father Johnson’s school now boasts an enrolment of nearly 600 young people on a 100-acre campus!

Students and staff had the chance to mark the School’s birthday on Friday, April 29th. The day began with a special service in The Memorial Chapel. Later, Junior and Senior School students enjoyed a barbecue lunch and gathered on the terraces for birthday cake. Then, the Senior School houses faced off in a dodgeball tournament. Held throughout the Arnold Massey ’55 Athletic Centre, the tournament was organized by students in the Grade 12 Leadership course. Congratulations to them on a job well done!

Sunday was a chance to acknowledge the School’s official birthday, and to reflect on where TCS has come over the past 157 and where it is headed in the future.
