Sports Updates: Track and field team continues winning ways

Trinity College School’s Senior School track and field team continued to build on the success from its opening meet, posting strong results at the Durham Classic invitational event held April 27th and 28th at Oshawa’s Civic Recreation Complex. This was the team’s first outdoor meet, and the athletes braved cold, windy weather for a solid showing. New experiences included Senior racers in the 200m, who enjoyed the chance to race under the lights on Wednesday night, and the six athletes who challenged themselves with their first attempt at the steeplechase.

Eighteen individual athletes placed in the top eight in at least one of their events, with a total of 30 top-eight finishes. And, each of the School’s relay teams placed in the top eight.

Top-three results include:

  • Charlotte Belanger – 2nd in Novice 1500m run, 3rd in Open 2000m steeplechase
  • Aeowyn Comissiong – 1st in Novice 300m hurdles
  • Aidan Small – 2nd in Junior 400m dash
  • Andrew Richards – 2nd in Open 2000m steeplechase
  • Toyo Udoeyop – 3rd in Senior 200m dash, 3rd in Senior long jump
  • Luque Lockhart – 1st in Senior 400m hurdles
  • Open Mixed 4x400m Relay – 3rd

Overall, TCS finished 12th out of the 28 teams competing, and had one of the highest point totals amongst the smaller teams at the event.
