Woodworking Club makes use of new specialty tools

This fall term, the Trinity College School Woodworking Club was comprised of a very committed group of student carpenters, all of whom, through their dedicated approach and determination, produced several high-quality pieces of work.

As the club continues to evolve and acquire additional specialty tools, the students were able to express their creativity through a variety of different projects. Oliver Lynn designed and created an amazing laminated canoe paddle using walnut, basswood and white cedar. Kennedy Belfon focused her attention on the scrollsaw and produced an impressive “wavy bowl” as well as a “wine cradle” while Shanen McFadden hand-carved serving spoons out of white pine and walnut. Ben Semmler became the specialist on the new power-carving rotary tools to make a highly detailed blue jay out of basswood. Finally, Arjuna Tiwari hand-carved a beautiful “dough bowl” out of basswood and did a great job on final sanding and finishing.
