Opening Week begins with the return of Grade 12 students!

Trinity College School kicked off the opening week of the 2021-2022 school year by welcoming the future Class of 2022 back to campus on Tuesday, September 7th. Our Grade 12 students enjoyed a day of bonding activities designed to reignite friendships and create new memories.

Our Grade 12 boarders moved into their residences throughout the morning, before having their first meal prepared by our culinary services team – a barbecue lunch on the terraces under sunny skies.

With the arrival of Grade 12 day students after lunch, the class took part in an opening chapel service followed by leadership activities. The students also spent time making signs to give a warm welcome the new and returning Grade 9-11 students who will be arriving on campus over the coming days. The afternoon wrapped up with a meeting with the academic guidance counselling team, to help our graduating class prepare for its final year and the lead-up to life after TCS.

Then it was fun, fun, fun as the entire grade was invited to a “Summer Soiree” including mocktails in the Nash Garden, dinner under the tent and an evening social.

Head of the Senior School Kristopher Churchill reflected on the happiness of being able to return to in-person learning once again: “We are thrilled to start welcoming our students back to our beautiful campus as we head into the palpable energy and excitement of September. One primary focus this year is on fostering that sense of community we have all missed when apart – building trust and rapport by meeting students where they are in their journeys. Given that so much rests upon the interpersonal ties we create as a community, it will be an honour and a privilege to put aside some busy planning a few times this week to walk the campus and welcome students home.”

Over at Boulden House, our new Junior School students had the chance to drop-in during the afternoon for a visit and to meet their “buddies,” the older students who will help them become settled into life in Boulden. The students were all eager for the start of Junior School classes on Wednesday!
