The Senior School library at Trinity College School reflected on a wonderful Christmas season filled with a shared love of reading as prizes were presented for the Holiday Reading Challenge and Elf on the Library Shelf contests recently.

The Holiday Reading Challenge, which is run in both the Junior and Senior Schools, invites community members to track their reading over the December Break. Each day a participant logs a minimum 30 minutes of reading time, they receive one ballot for a prize draw. The forms of reading can vary from e-books and traditional print, to newspapers, magazines, websites and more. The goal is to encourage reading for pleasure.

Overall, 133 students, parents, siblings, grandparents, staff and staff children took part in the challenge between December 18th and January 4th. In total, they logged 1,445 days of reading the minimum requirement (equalling at least 722 hours of reading)!

Draw winners from the Senior School were Grade 11 student Silas Hodges, Grade 12 student Danny Raskind and staff member Mrs. Vikki Armstrong from the communications office. They each received a Chapters e-gift card.

Leading up to the holiday break, the Senior School library also hosted its annual “Elf on the Library Shelf” contest, which challenges students to find and take a photo of the library elf in its location each day. Grade 12 student Kaylie Tsang won the prize of a delivery from the local Golden Chopsticks restaurant. Special thanks goes to library staff member Ms. Viola Lyons for her creative settings for our library elf!
