Results have been announced from the regional competition of DECA Ontario. The top 120 in each individual and principle oral event and the top 100 pairs in the team oral events advance on to Provincials. Trinity College School’s DECA Chapter had an impressive showing, with 18 students qualifying.
Placing in the top 120 in individual and principle events were:
- Kaitlyn Chan (Apparel and Accessories Marketing)
- Paige Zammit (Accounting)
- Riley Christensen (Automotive Services Marketing)
- Kyle Munns (Business Finance)
- Michael Yip (Business Services Marketing)
- Eric Wang (Food Marketing)
- Simon Spoor (Food Marketing)
- Dagna Jezioro (Principles of Finance)
- Kaitlin Miller (Principles of Marketing)
- Lily Wright (Principles of Marketing)
Earning provincial berths with a top 100 placing in team events were:
- Anna Dobrinski and Madison Miller (Business Law and Ethics)
- Michael Damiani and William Frendo-Jones (Sports and Entertainment Marketing)
- Jamil Velji and Carter Davis (Travel and Tourism)
- Emma Aitchison-Madill and Olivia Girimonte (Travel and Tourism)
A special shout-out to Jamil Velji and Carter Davis, who earned the accolade of being a top 20 team in their event.
For the written events, judges marked the papers as a “pass/fail” with a 70% bar. Any paper that received a “pass” status moved forward to compete at Provincials. Achieving successful papers were Ava Becker, Neyha Billing and Sahil Amin (Innovation Plan), and Carly Lin and Lily Lai (Integrated Marketing Campaign: Product).
Provincials will take on a new format this year due to COVID-19. The competition will be virtual and staggered over several days and weekends throughout February. We wish all of our TCS DECA participants best of luck!
