This year’s Movember campaign at Trinity College School built on the success of previous years, with a group of more than two dozen students and staff banding together to raise more than $2,100.

Beginning on November 1st, Team TCS 2020 took on the challenge of growing Movember moustaches to raise awareness and funds for a range of men’s health issues. As well, participants were able to track their physical activity for the “Make a Move for Movember” initiative. A total of 470 kilometres was logged over the course of the month.

This year’s team included staff members Grant Elson, Doug Mann, Trevor Gardiner, Steve Schmidlin, Matt Murray, Leisa Wierenga, Nick Stratford, Campbell Hall, Stuart Grainger, Brent Hurley, Joshua McDonald, Conor Eustace and Colin Powles. And students taking part were Luca Mascarin, Drew Siokalo, Erin Efovi, Scott Sanders, Kento Moriyoshi, Nico Deichmann, Sahil Amin, Fin Conacher, Devlin Lovshin, Graham Hall, Stefan Wolf, Thomas McLean, Nolan Finn and Cooper Reed.

The Movember movement began in 2003, when a group of 30 men in Australia decided to grow moustaches in order to generate a conversation around men’s health. The following year, they began raising funds, first for prostate cancer and then later for other men’s health issues, including mental health. Since its inception, the movement has drawn together more than six million men and women in 20 countries to raise funds for more than 1,250 men’s health projects.

Over the past decade, TCS participants have raised more than $18,500 through the Movember campaign.
