It was nearly 100 years ago that the doors of Boulden House first opened as a dedicated home to the Junior School at Trinity College School. Today, students in Grades 5 through 8 got their start on the 2020-2021 school year, while we also warmly received returning day students on campus.
Junior School faculty happily greeted students in their class cohorts outside historic Boulden House on Wednesday morning. While all were donning masks and maintaining a safe distance, their joy at seeing one another was on full display. Our youngest students spent the day learning about new health and safety expectations in light of COVID-19, but also had a lot of fun reconnecting and meeting new classmates and taking part in a virtual “welcome assembly.” Students even got to experience having lunch provided in our new Junior School servery by our dedicated culinary services team!
“What a wonderful day it has been seeing all those smiling eyes and feeling the tremendous energy and excitement!” says Head of Junior School Jennifer Wyatt. “Our collective cups runneth over with joy from being together, in person, as a TCS community. Students demonstrated incredible resilience and flexibility as we worked out various kinks in our day, and shared that seeing each other and recess were their most memorable moments of the day. We will all sleep well tonight and look forward to seeing everyone again tomorrow!”
Across campus, returning day students checked-in and then met outside in tents to hear from their housemasters. Returning day students were reminded of the special role they will all play in helping our new day students feel a part of the TCS community when they arrive to campus on Friday. In the afternoon, returning day students took part in a fun scavenger hunt around campus.
Returning boarders continued to settle into their new routine, ending the day with house meetings where they prepared for the arrival of our new boarders on Thursday.
