Parent session looks at strategies for supporting emotional wellbeing

The third in a series of online parent sessions hosted by the Trinity College School academic & student support team provided strategies for supporting children’s emotional wellbeing in the current context. As families remain at home, it is important for parents to balance their own feelings of anxiety or loss with their need to impart strength and a sense of hopefulness to their children.

During the presentation on May 1st, Ms. Krista Koekkoek and Ms. Kerri Dunn from the guidance office provided practical tips for parents to serve as role models for their children’s social-emotional learning. They discussed how parents can ground themselves, and how they can address the things young people need for emotional wellbeing: a sense of safety, belonging and love. They also reinforced for parents the many supports available through the School to help families during this time.
