Global Ambassadors: Welcoming new families to TCS

In recent weeks the admissions office has been working closely with a special group of parents and alumni to ensure newly enrolled families feel prepared to begin their Trinity College School journey in September.

The Global Ambassadors program was formalized a few years ago to assist the admissions team with its outreach efforts. For example, current families would volunteer to attend admissions fairs, open houses, or host events in their home in order to share the TCS story with prospective families. Nearly 60 ambassadors serve as connectors for TCS in 12 international countries and here in Canada.

Recently, the admissions team organized online meetings with our Global Ambassadors in order to receive their feedback on the TCS Connect e-community and to brainstorm ways our Global Ambassadors can engage and support our newly enrolled families.

It was heartening to hear directly from parents their pride in the School’s response to these unprecedented times. As one of our parents in Saudi Arabia said, “We commend TCS for what they are doing. Talking from a parent point of view, it is incredibly amazing to see how the School jumped into planning on such short notice and is doing an amazing job. Thank you very much to all the TCS staff; we highly appreciate what you are doing for the kids.”

Over the coming weeks our Global Ambassadors will be reaching out to host Zoom coffee meetings and one-on-one contact with newly enrolled families, welcoming them to TCS, answering questions and providing advice based on their first-hand knowledge of the School.

At the same time, the admissions team is rolling out a “buddy” program which will see current Junior and Senior School students paired up with new students so they can learn more about the school community. For example, newly enrolled Senior School students will be able to ask questions of a Senior School “buddy” who will be in their house in September. Our returning students were so excited to be asked to be of service to the school community in this way and they are eager to connect with new students in order to help them further understand how amazing TCS is!
