Students showcase French language public speaking skills

On Friday, February 28th, a group of Trinity College School students from Grade 10 and 11 participated in the 36th annual Concours d’art oratoire at Havergal College.

Organized by Canadian Parents for French, the Concours endeavours to promote French language fluency, with students competing in public speaking events, and also responding to questions about their speeches, all in French.

Representing TCS were Fiona Miller, Emma Pavone, Silas Hodges, Emma Aitchison-Madill and Agnes Grabcova. All received certificates and presented a well-rehearsed, clear and engaging three to five minute speech in French without notes. Their speeches covered diverse topics such as Emperor Nero’s cruel reign, travel stories, the December massacre at École Polytechnique and the position of women in Canada, and the importance of education in developing countries.

Congratulations! Bien joué!
