TCS grabs six medals at DECA provincial competition

The Trinity College School DECA Chapter continues to grow, sending its largest contingent yet to this year’s provincial competition, and producing six medals at the event! Over 7,500 students from across Ontario took over downtown Toronto for the provincial competition, held February 6th to 8th.

Through conferences and competitions, DECA instills professionalism and prepares youth to respond to authentic business cases and market demands. TCS students had previously competed in the Nor-Eastern and Private Regionals, producing excellent results. DECA Ontario Provincials, the second competition of the year, invited qualifying students to continue to compete in their chosen category from the regional competition. In addition to the competitions and professional development, the provincial event was loaded with award ceremonies, sponsor showcases and evening entertainment.

TCS sent its largest group to provincials this year, with 17 students competing and one student taking part in the Leadership Development Academy. Four members were able to distinguish themselves beyond their competitors by earning the following six medals:

  • Riley Christensen (Automotive Services Marketing): Top 18 in Roleplay I; top 15 on the test; and top 18 overall
  • Kyle Munns (Business Finance): Top 18 in Roleplay I
  • Jaya Sharma (Apparel and Accessories Marketing): Top 18 in Roleplay I
  • Michael Yip (Business Services Marketing): Top 15 on the test

Following the fierce competition, the TCS chapter enjoyed an unforgettable evening at Captive Escape Rooms, discovering clues and solving puzzles.

Thank you to Ms. Cheyne Cole, who not only helped to chaperone, but was also able to judge at provincials.
