I like to take the bus! Sometimes I talk with one of my friends or I may have a little nap or a snack. I like the bus because it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is nice and it feels like the time goes by in a stroke of light!
- Caleb, Grade 6 student from Ajax
Each morning, many of our students arrive at school having travelled from one of several surrounding communities. Both Junior School and Senior School day students take advantage of the safe and efficient daily bus service offered by Trinity College School.
Providing a daily bus service for students living in nearby communities (which have sufficient numbers of TCS students) allows the School to offer families a reasonably priced transportation option. Century Transportation – a reliable, properly licensed and insured provider – is contracted to bus students on behalf of the School.
For our students in the Durham Region, the daily weekday bus departs Ajax at approximately 7:00 a.m., making stops at Whitby, Courtice, Bowmanville and Newcastle before arriving at TCS. Those students travelling to school daily from the Peterborough area have a choice of four pick-up and drop-off locations with morning buses departing between 6:45-7:25 a.m.
Regular evening buses return students to the communities in which they live. For Senior School students this means arriving between approximately 6:00-7:30 p.m., depending on their grade level, day of the week and drop off location. Junior School students typically arrive back in their home community between 4:30-5:20 p.m. each weekday.
For students in the Senior School, there is also a Saturday bus schedule for both Peterborough and the Durham Region and “late buses” are often scheduled on evenings when special events are taking place on campus.
In the event of severe weather, bus cancellation announcements are promptly provided through the TCS travel office. For more information about Trinity College School’s day bus offerings, contact the TCS travel office at traveloffice@tcs.on.ca or 905-885-3217 ext. 1257.
