Guild celebrates volunteers at annual general meeting
  • Guild celebrates volunteers at annual general meeting

Some 121 years ago, the TCS Parents’ Guild held its first meeting, making it the oldest existing organization of its kind in Canada. Then known as the Ladies’ Guild, today the volunteer-driven group has grown to include all Trinity College School parents, and has expanded its work well beyond it original mandate of funding for the chapel, to encompass support for many areas of school life. On Tuesday, June 6th, the guild celebrated its volunteers at its annual general meeting in Osler Hall.

The morning began with a beautiful breakfast prepared by the School’s culinary services team, giving parents a chance to sit down together, chat and catch up with one another. Head of Trinity College School Stuart Grainger welcomed all in attendance and thanked the guild for everything it does to enhance daily life for the students and staff at TCS. From the Bear Fair family fun day in the fall, through the daily Bear Boutique tuck shop, to the wonderful items funded through the guild’s annual “wish list,” the volunteers of the TCS Parents’ Guild give countless hours of time and energy to make TCS a better place.

Current guild president Lisa Bailey P’21 ’23 ’24 presented Mr. Grainger with a cheque from the guild for a donation of $17,000 to the School. Overall, the guild gifted nearly $98,000 to the School this year to support a range of initiatives including house and Junior School outings, the guild bursary, and items such as a new professional drum set, rugby scrum machine, sewing machines and more.

A highlight of the AGM was special guest speaker Keith Brooks, a guidance counsellor and coach of the Senior School golf team. He spoke about the golf simulator which has funded by the guild, and shared the important role it has played thus far, as well as plans for future use. He thanked the guild profoundly for this welcome addition to the campus.

Each of the members of the current guild executive was asked to introduce themselves and speak about their portfolios, while outgoing executive members were thanked for their service. The incoming guild executive was announced for the 2023-2024 school year, which will be led by incoming president Chantal Campbell P’25 ’27.

Parents are encouraged to learn more about the guild’s work at www.tcs.on.ca/guild, and make plans to join in the fun – by attending events, supporting guild fundraisers, or volunteering. All are welcome!
