Students give back throughout the community
  • Students give back throughout the community

Trinity College School students lent a hand during service activities throughout the weekend of April 15th to 16th, giving back to our local community – and having some fun in the process!

On Saturday, a keen group headed to Paulmac’s Pets in Cobourg to volunteer at a dog wash event in support of mental health and addictions awareness. The students enjoyed meeting dogs, and their owners, from throughout our local area, including a visit from Mr. Hurley and his puppy, Harriet! The event raised more than $400 in support of mental health and addiction services.

Also on Saturday, two energetic students headed to Laurie Lawson Outdoor Education Centre to help remove invasive plant species and perform general trail maintenance at the site. Under sunny skies, the students worked hard and also had the chance to learn about the habitats that surround Northumberland County and ways to positively impact the site and our natural world. For example, they learned about the importance of garter snakes and what their presence tells us about the health of an ecosystem.

On Sunday, students headed to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Cobourg to volunteer for the annual dinner there. Students donned their berets to help the 120 invited guests enjoy a “night in Paris” and raise funds to combat homelessness in our region.

Thank you to the students who gave of their time over the weekend to support our community partners, and to the chaperones who helped make these opportunities possible.
