The semi-finals of Trinity College School’s 2022-2023 House Debates saw students tackling resolutions near and dear to their hearts on Monday, February 27th.

Junior debaters argued the resolution that “only healthy food should be served in Osler Hall,” while Seniors faced off on the proposition that “arts are a fundamental part of a high school education.”

Wright House faced Orchard, while Ketchum met Rigby in the Junior semi-finals. The top individual debater was Rigby’s Hibah Tahir, followed by Linden Wylie, also from Rigby House. Orchard’s Roger Zhang and Nic Shi rounded out the leaderboard. Hibah and Linden were the top team, with Roger and Nic in the runner-up spot.

Rigby and Orchard will vie for the Dr. Michael T. DuBroy Junior House Debate Trophy at the finals in April.

In the Senior ranks, Brent House faced Wright, and Scott squared off with Bethune. Topping the individual leaderboard was Oliver Lynn, followed by his Bethune House teammate Tanay Langhe. Just behind were Scott’s Dagna Jezioro and Nina Gardes. Oliver and Tanay were the top Senior team, followed by Nina and Dagna.

At the end of the round, it was Bethune and Brent who led the pack and will move on compete for the Tom Lawson Senior House Debate Trophy in April.
