  • Alpine skiers finish strong at OFSAA Championships

The alpine ski season came to a wonderful finale for the Trinity College School team, with the High School Trained male and female teams, Open male team, and one Open female individual competing and placing in the top eight teams or individuals at the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Championships, held February 27th and 28th at Osler Bluff Ski Club in Collingwood, Ontario.

On day one, Grade 10 student Addy O’Grady rocketed into a fifth place finish in the slalom event in a highly competitive Open females field.

Led by Grade 11 student Emerson Mendum (fifth place finish in slalom), the High School Trained boys team earned back to back sixth-place finishes in both the slalom and giant slalom events. Emerson was supported by strong finishes by Carlo Rasch-Schulze Isfort, Anton Piepenbrock, Aidan Small and Liam Small.

Our High School Trained girls also had a great day on the slopes, finishing fifth overall in slalom and seventh in giant slalom. This included strong finishes by Lea Jane David Frenette, Ally Jiang, Aeowyn Commissiong, Leah Willmott and Hannah Bailey.

The Open males team rebounded after a tough slalom day to earn an eighth-place finish in giant slalom. Congratulations to Atticus Hodges, Silas Hodges, Oliver Cowan, Henry Wilson and Luke McCarthy.

Congratulations to all of our alpine skiers and our grads, Silas Hodges and Oliver Cowan. Thank you to student manager, Sela Schunk, for all of her hard work and support on hill with the teams. The coaches also wish to thank Heather Ardies, Chris Cowan, Pete O’Grady and Bill Green for their parent support throughout the entire season with gatekeeping and video. The coaches are thrilled for all alpine athletes and look forward to next year with many returning racers.
