Food Services Receiver/Porter (Full-time position)

Trinity College School (TCS) is currently searching for a full-time Food Services Receiver/Porter to join the TCS Culinary Services team. The successful candidate will receive and inspect incoming materials, supplies and equipment as well as issue supplies from the storeroom, take inventories and compile stock records. He/she will clean and organize the storeroom areas, freezers and coolers; rotate inventory items, according to “first in, first out” principle; and perform food service assistant activities.

Reporting to: Director of Culinary Services

Position specifics: Full time, start date November 6, 2017

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure food service associate activities are completed as needed, as per established guidelines
  • Receive incoming material, supplies and equipment and ensure accuracy of orders, as per outlined protocols
  • Oversee to ensure that food and supplies are received into general stores (e.g. coolers, freezers and dry storage areas) and stock is unpacked and placed in proper locations in accordance with department stock rotation standards
  • Ensure stock is requisitioned to the kitchen daily to meet demand requirements
  • Take inventory of stock for ordering routinely
  • Adhere to industry standards by ensuring: storeroom organized and clean at all times, equipment and environment maintained, refrigerator and freezer clean and maintained
  • Ensure additional department, organization or network activities are completed per established objectives
  • Remove waste from kitchen & clean deep fryers and other kitchen equipment; replenish 18L water jugs from our water purification system; participate in dish room duties on non-delivery days

Position Requirements:

  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well independently, as well as in a team atmosphere
  • Medium to heavy repetitive lifting required
  • Class G driver’s license
  • Food Handler Certificate, an asset
