It has been about a decade since Trinity College School’s senior wind ensemble last performed at the Ontario Band Association’s annual Provincial Band Festival, but the group made its return in fine fashion. On Tuesday, February 13th, Trinity Winds joined ensembles from across Ontario to participate in the highest-quality school festival in the province in the hopes of earning an invitation to the MusicFest Canada Nationals.

Thirty-eight Senior School musicians took part in the 22nd annual festival, which was held at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto. The ensemble opened with the bold overture Kronos by Robert W. Smith before moving into the lyrical piece Chasing Sunlight by Canadian composer Cait Nishimura. The band played exceptionally well and was awarded a Gold and a High Silver from the adjudicators. As a result of the strong adjudication, Trinity Winds was invited to perform at MusicFest Nationals in May!

Overall, it was an amazing day. The students were so happy afterward, and should be very proud of themselves.
